House of Joy

Providing a Sense of Home to the Elderly

About

House of Joy

The House of Joy concept was introduced in 2010, a development after 11 years of befriending seniors under the COPE (Community Outreach Programme to the Elderly) programme mooted by South East CDC.

In House of Joy, we endeavour to provide a sense of ‘Home’, facilitate programmes that prevent cognitive and physical degeneration, eliminate social isolation, and cultivate a positive attitude towards aging and death.

The seniors [of House of Joy] are a real inspiration.
— Desmond Lee, Minister-In-Charge Of Social Services Integration

Hip-hop granny hits up CrossFit

Grandmother of five Yeoh Kim Bee, 82, is part of a CrossFit programme at the House of Joy elderly activities centre in Mountbatten. The exercise classes aim to give elders the confidence to lead independent lives.

Yeoh also took part in a CrossFit charity event to raise funds for at-risk youths.

2018 had been a wonderful and fruitful year for me, having attended House of Joy classes had given me an open mind and ideas to move on with life as a senior.
